The answer

Why not just use ChatGPT or Claude?

We use both, and we'd rather answer this honestly than pretend general models can't do nonprofit work. They can. A capable person who writes good prompts can get a solid grant narrative out of ChatGPT.

The question is what it costs you to get there, and what happens the second time.

What a general model asks of you

Every session starts empty. You explain your organization, your programs, your voice, and the constraints of the funder you're writing to. Then you refine, because the first draft reads like it was written for any nonprofit rather than yours.

That work is real and it doesn't compound. Next month you do it again for the next grant, and the person who covers for you while you're out has no idea what context you'd built up.

What the Command Center holds

Sector knowledge, pre-loaded.

The coaches know what a logic model is, why unrestricted funding matters, what a funder means by capacity, and how a 990 reads. You don’t spend your first three prompts teaching.

Nine scoped roles.

A coach built for grant writing asks different questions than one built for board governance. Scope is what makes the questions good.

Context that stays with the organization.

What the Command Center learns about your programs, voice, and constraints sits with the account rather than in one person’s chat history, so the tenth session starts further along than the first.

Coaching built in.

The Prompter helps you ask better questions, which matters more than any single output. If you’ve never been sure whether you’re using these tools well, that’s the coach to start with.

When a general model is the better answer

If you have someone on staff who is already fluent with AI, enjoys prompt engineering, and has time to build their own system, a general model plus their expertise will beat us on flexibility. We'd rather say that than sell you something you don't need.

Where we're a better fit is the more common situation — a small team, no AI expert, and work that needs doing this week.
