About the Capacity Command Center
The Command Center was built by two people who kept running into the same problem from different directions. Mike Mitchell has spent thirty-plus years in the social sector — housing, immigration, and nonprofit leadership — and watched capable organizations lose ground to workload rather than to strategy. Alissa Condra spent fifteen years as a UX researcher and designer, mostly working out why people don't adopt tools that were supposed to help them.
The gap we kept seeing was between what AI could do for a nonprofit and what actually got used on a Tuesday afternoon. Plenty of organizations had access to these tools. Very few had them integrated into the work in a way that survived a busy week.
What we built and why
Most nonprofits are choosing between two bad options: a staffer carelessly pastes the donor list into a free tool or nonprofits like yours don't use AI and watch the gap widen between what the mission needs and what teams can do. We built the third option.
We didn't build this because we're relaxed about AI. We built it because we're not. Nonprofits hold records nobody else holds — donor, beneficiary, sometimes pastoral. If we couldn't say what happens to your data in one sentence, without hedging, we wouldn't have put it in front of you.
And the coaches don't decide anything. They draft, model, and suggest. Which story gets told, how a donor gets stewarded, what a family needs — that stays with the people who know. A tool that quietly takes judgment out of your hands isn't capacity. It's exposure, and you're the one who answers for it.
